Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2026-08-17T11:04Z ( SOLAR-1: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOLAR-1: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
SOLAR-1: SWiPS
IMAP: MAG
IMAP: SWAPI
Activity ID: 2026-08-17T11:04:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures)
Note: This arrival signature gradually starts around 2026-08-17T11:04Z, characterized by an increase in B_total from ~6nT to a peak of 15nT at 2026-08-18T10:20Z. This arrival is accompanied by an increase in solar wind speed from ~300 km/s to a maximum of 430 km/s at 2026-08-18T01:49Z. An increase in temperature from approximately ~53k K to ~220k K and an increase in density to ~20 p/cc is also observed. A flux rope/magnetic obstacle signature is first observed starting around 2026-08-17T21:30Z characterized by additional increases in temperature, density, and amplification/separation of magnetic field components. This arrival is likely associated with the glancing blow of CME: 2026-08-14T05:09Z.
